It is with great pleasure that I begin my new journey as
Superintendent of Schools for Klein ISD. I have enormous respect for the
district, the Board of Trustees, the teachers and staff, and my predecessor.
Klein has a strong foundation for student success, teacher excellence, parent
involvement, and community support; and I am happy to be joining this quality
My previous 23-year tenure in Leander ISD as
superintendent, teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent, has provided
me experience and knowledge to assist in our continuing efforts to increase
student achievement, build strong character, and strengthen the overall Klein
ISD community. I often say that Strong Processes + Great People =
Student Success, and I am confident that together we can continue to
build successes that strengthen our school community.
Earlier in my career, I was a member of the second corps
of Teach For America, teaching in Houston ISD and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I
received my Doctorate in Education from the University of Texas, my Master’s in
Education from Texas State University, and my Bachelor of Arts in English
Literature from the University of Houston.
My wife, Marcee, shares my enthusiasm in moving to the
Klein community. Our two sons, Alan and Nicholas, are proud public school
graduates and are attending college. Marcee is an adjunct professor with the
Lone Star College System and prior to that, she was an adjunct professor with
Austin Community College.
