Payment Options

ADLP v. Deposit

Students have two options in order to receive a device:

  • They can either purchase “insurance” (ADPC) for $65 that is non-refundable and covers up to three incidents of accidental loss and/or damage to the Tablet PC, OR

  • They can purchase a “deposit” for $350 that is fully refundable at the end of the school year (or when a student withdraws from school) after the Tablet PC and all peripheral items are returned to Klein ISD in acceptable condition. If the Tablet PC and all peripheral items are not returned to Klein ISD in acceptable condition, the $350 Tablet PC Security Deposit will be applied to all outstanding charges for repair or replacement of the Tablet PC and/or peripheral items. This option is not available for payment online. Please contact campus administration for more information on this option.
  • 99% of parents select the “insurance” option. You must select one of the two options and make payment before your student can be issued a device.

Credit card and eCheck payments can be made online via School Cash Online. Cash and checks will be accepted in person by the Repair Center Secretary.

What ADLP Doesn't Cover

The following are not covered by the Accidental Damage and Protection Coverage and will result in repair or replacement costs being charged to the student:

  • Tablet PC loss or damage that is either intentional or the result of gross negligence (including transporting the Tablet PC outside of the Klein ISD-provided case);

  • Loss or damage to the Tablet PC that occurs after three (3) incidents of accidental loss or damage per school year; and

  • Any loss or damage to peripheral items (stylus, power adapter, case, internal batteries, bumper or exoskeleton (if applicable), and other components or accessories used with the Tablet PC).

Other Information

When do Students Receive their Device?

There are large rollouts scheduled at the start of each year for each campus. The rollout dates and deadlines can be found here.
After the first two rollouts, students receive devices and go through Onboarding on a weekly basis. For high school campuses, if the student meets the requirements by Tuesday afternoon, they will receive their device on Thursday.

Tablet PC Handbook

A copy of the Tablet PC handbook can be found on this page.

Reporting Loss/Damage/Theft

Students have five (5) school days after incident, or discovery of an incident to report any damage, loss or theft to the Repair Center through the Work Order System.

If the device was damaged/destroyed in an incident off campus, the student will need to provide a case number from the appropriate authorities (for example, if the device is damaged/destroyed in a fire, the fire department case number should be provided).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use the Klein ISD-provided case? Isn’t my backpack sleeve enough?

All students must use a Klein ISD-provided case with the Tablet PC. Klein ISD-provided cases are designed especially for use with each individual Tablet PC model, and Klein ISD may confiscate a student’s Tablet PC and/or take disciplinary action, as appropriate, if the student is not using a Klein-ISD provided case for the student’s Tablet PC. Backpacks with padding are not acceptable.

Where do I report that my device isn’t working?

First turn in a Work Order Request (link on StudentNet and Schoology – only available while on campus). Then bring your device to the Repair Center. They will assist you!

Where is the Repair Center?

There is a centrally located Repair Center on each high school campus. Their hours of operation are from 7 am – 3 pm.

How will my student know how to use their Tablet PC?

Students will be led through several courses on Digital Citizenship to ensure that students understand the best way to work in a digital environment with appropriate responsibility. They will also be led through “Digital Onboarding” where they learn how to properly care for their Tablet PC and how to access appropriate online resources.

Can I decorate my Tablet PC?

No. Stickers and personalization are not permitted. Each Tablet PC will have the student’s name on a label so it will be easy to identify.

Can I get my Tablet PC repaired somewhere else?

No. Only Klein ISD Technicians can service a Klein ISD Tablet PC.

Can I clean my screen with 409 or Windex?

No. Only a soft cloth should be used on the screen. If necessary, stop by the Repair Center and they will assist you in cleaning it.

Can I access the internet at home?

Yes. Tablet PC can join existing wireless networks.

What if I forget to charge my Tablet PC?

There are classroom chargers available to use during class. Please leave your charger at home so it doesn’t get lost!

What if I lose my charger?

You’ll need to purchase a replacement charger.
What if I leave Klein or move campuses?

You’ll need to return your Tablet PC and all peripheral items to the campus Repair Center before leaving or transferring campuses.
