Legislative Update & Klein Leadership Coalition
The 86th Texas Legislature convened in January with a new Speaker of the House in Austin. One of the top priorities this session is revamping the school finance system, which is also one of the main legislative priorities for Klein ISD. We support legislation that establishes a simple and equitable public school finance system that adequately funds every public school in Texas.
One key group in Klein working to advocate for public schools is the Klein Leadership Coalition. The Klein Leadership Coalition is a standing team of key influencers: community leaders, parents, teachers, principals, business owners, clergy, and district leadership who have a vested interest in the success of EVERY student in Klein ISD.
The KLC’s mission is simple:
- Learn how local, state, and federal issues impact the quality of education in Klein ISD.
- Share information with parent, taxpayer, and business communities, enabling them to become more knowledgeable and engaged.
- Communicate with elected officials, making them aware of the impact of proposed legislation on quality public education.
You can find who represents you in the state legislature on the KLC webpage.
The district continues to work with our legislators this legislative session to improve the state school funding system and are hopeful the legislature will make significant improvements to the system.
Our students. Our schools. Our community.
