International Baccalaureate Program (Klein Oak)

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is an internationally recognized curriculum that offers 11th and 12th grade students an opportunity to earn the IB diploma. Students complete and test in six IB subjects; write an extended essay of independent research guided by a faculty mentor, complete 150 hours of creative, action, and service activities (CAS); and participate in a critical thinking course called Theory of Knowledge (TOK). This advanced, comprehensive program of study offers an integrated approach to learning across the disciplines with an emphasis on meeting the challenges of living and working in a global, technological society. It provides students an opportunity to handle college-level work and earn college credit upon completion of the program.

Students must complete an application and interview before being accepted into the program. It is recommended that students apply for admission in the spring semester of their 8th or 9th grade so they can be enrolled in Pre-IP (Pre-International Programme) classes which will prepare them for the rigorous junior and senior level coursework.
